Elise’s practice focuses on labor and employment counseling and litigation matters. She represents a variety of companies and industries in claims involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, wage and hour claims, classification of exempt and non-exempt employees, and reductions-in-force matters.

Elise also represents clients in employment-related administrative hearings before the Department of Employment & Housing (DFEH), the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the National Relations Labor Board (NLRB) and the California Labor Commissioner.

Elise conducts HR investigations, HR presentations and in-house training to promote respectful workplace practices. She authored articles on employment law for several publications including Smart Business, the Northern California Human Resources Association and the Human Resources Executive.

Elise’s practice also focuses on business and commercial matters.  This includes representing companies in business contract and intellectual property disputes.  With respect to Elise’s experience with intellectual property matters, she represents clients in trademark prosecution and copyright disputes, trademark and copyright infringement, and unfair competition.  She has published articles on trademark and copyright law for the Intellectual Property and Technology law journal and San Francisco Daily Journal.

Elise has trial experience in employment cases, business and commercial disputes and intellectual property matters.

Elise is a native of London, England.  She has lived in California for more than twenty five years.  She has an undergraduate degree from the University of California at Berkeley where she graduated summa cum laude in English Literature.  Elise received her J.D. from Golden Gate University in 1998.  Prior to forming her own law firm, Elise was a partner with the national law firm of Ropers, Majeski, Kohn & Bentley.
